Dear Daughter: Your Pain is My Responsibility

Have you ever asked God, “Lord, why am I going through this?” Have you ever wondered, “Will I ever heal from this pain?” We all have moments where we go through pain. However, rarely do we get to experience the purpose behind the trial and the blessing behind the mess. Dear Daughter is a blog series by Jordone Massey.

I originally started writing this series as pages in my personal journal to encourage myself. My hope is that writing this series as if God, your Father, is directly speaking to you will inspire you to draw closer to His love in the midst of your hard times.

Dear Daughter,

Your pain is My responsibility. Why do you hide your feelings as if I don’t see your tears? I understand your heartache and I died for your struggles.

Please. Will you let Me help you?

All your life, you’ve had to be the strong one. The strong friend. The strong sibling. The peace maker.

But, when it comes to Me daughter…

.…you don’t have to pretend to be strong.

My strength is made perfect in your weakness. When you are not afraid to be weak in my presence, then My strength can truly be made known through you. (2 Corinthians 12:8-10).

Let go. Tell me how you really feel about life. I want to know your sorrows, your disappointments, and your fears.

When you are in prayer, I need you to not be afraid to be honest about your weak areas.

I want to heal you. But, I can’t heal what you are too strong to let go of.

I’ve placed counselors on the Earth, churches to emotionally support you, and people along your path who care about you.

Sometimes you place so much energy into thinking about what’s going wrong that you forget to use the resources that can help you to make matters right.

You aren’t alone.

I see your tears.

I know your hurt.

My plans for you are great (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV).

But, I want you to be healed before I bring all of them your way.

Like a good Father, I want you to be well before I give you larger responsibilities.

If I rush to provide you with the desires of your heart before you are ready, I’ll only be setting you up for failure.

I want to see you walk into the calling that I have for you.

But, you must help Me to help you get there.

You must be an active participant in your own healing process.

Have you sought the counselor that I laid on your heart to speak to?

When was the last time that you really confided in a trustworthy friend or church member about what’s on your heart?

They will console you in your deepest hurts. You’ll feel a release when you talk about the loads of troubles on your mind.

More importantly, do not leave me in the place of the pain that you’re in.

When you’re hurting, the enemy will send you temptations that provide temporary relief but they’ll only lead to long-term heartache.

Stay away from the cycles of the past.

The closer you stay to Me, the more I can help you to have peace in the times of your chaos.

Let Me love you.

Your pain is My responsibility. You are not alone.

Love,

Daddy

Prayer: Lord, help me not to make an idol of my pain. I want my pain to be the reason that I draw closer to You and not away from You. I’m hurting inside. Help me to be honest with you about what you already know is on my heart. Help to find the right support system, church family, and counselor that can help me in this journey of healing. I love you and I want to be well. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture:

8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, NKJV
